"A Mixed Bag" is a statement piece with a difference!!
This immaculately painted still life piece by Elisha is not unlike her smaller works, her attention to detail is prevalent but it is the incredible realism she has achieved, whilst still maintaining her intuitive marks to create this oversized still life.
As always, Elisha has worked directly from her subject here, she paints what she sees. It was a pleasure for her children to eat the props after the painting was completed. The painting featuring classic treats of the 80's Wizz Fizz, Curly Wurly and the Push Pop. This painting has a strong connection with her childhood, it has evoked feelings of nostalgia in all who have had the chance to view this piece in the flesh.
Elisha searched high and low to source the party bag she recalled from her childhood, but it was worth every moment spent looking. Painting from life is her preferred method to work.
She has created a rich colour palette, by slowly building smooth layer upon layer of paint. It is the smooth glossy finish and her striking bold background that gives Elisha's traditional still life painting a 'pop art' twist.
